Increase Your Productivity During the Pandemic

TekDash COVID-19 Updates

First and foremost, we hope that you and your family are staying safe and healthy during these unprecedented times. At TekDash, we care deeply about the health and safety of our customers and our technicians. We are closely monitoring the guidance from the CDC regarding COVID-19 and have decided to pause all onsite services until further notice. We will continue to offer remote services where available.

As many of you transition to telework, we wanted to leave you with a few tips on how to increase your productivity.

Organized Work Space

One of the most important things about working from home is having an organized workspace. We recommend having a dedicated desk when possible, but a neatly organized kitchen table or counter will do! Here is a great article on some creative workspaces!

Get a Second Monitor

Once you have your desk, the next thing would be an additional monitor if possible.

Studies have shown using dual monitors increases productivity by 20-30%! Not sure what monitor to get? No problem!  We have a great Instagram post on that. If you are interested in setting up a second monitor, we are here to help!

Optimize Your Internet Speed

Ok great, you have your desk and your monitor set up. Now, the next thing to do is make sure that your internet speeds can keep up with working from home. You should check to see how fast your speeds are by using a free speed test tool. Typically, you want to see the speed of at least 5Mbps. If you are seeing slower speeds, try moving your laptop closer to the wireless router. We also have a great blog post on how to improve your home WiFi that will give you some more tips.  You should also check with your internet service provider. Some are having promotions for free upgraded internet during this time.

Collaboration Tools

The next thing is communication. In order to be productive at work, you must be able to communicate with your team! Microsoft Teams is a great collaboration tool that is available for free right now. Need to conference with your coworkers? Some of our favorite tools are Webex and Zoom! Both are offering free trials right now.

Whiteboard

Finally, the most important thing (and my personal favorite) is a whiteboard! Whiteboards are great for brainstorming and working through ideas.  I think this is a great addition to any work from home setup.

That’s it! You are now ready to conquer your day with your new productivity space! As always, if you have any issues or just need help, our Tek’s are here for you. Just head to the service request page to book now!

How to Pay for Your Home Office Upgrade

Remember, just because you are working from home doesn't mean you are working less. In fact, in many cases the home office can be more productive than working in an office with distracting coworkers. For that reason, you should really think about your home office set up as an investment in your productivity - not just a necessary evil.

When it comes to securing funds for that investment, you have many suitable options. When you are ready to make the upgrade, the financial information experts at Bankrate have collected a fantastic resource detailing the many options you have available. Be sure to check it out before simply footing the bill for your home office out of pocket.
